Fall leaves Amber, I'm so glad you liked Werewolves Don't Werewolves Don't Go To Summer CampGo To Summer Camp.  Actually Marcia and I wrote that story (and all the Bailey School Kids books) together.  The original illustrator was a man named John Steven Gurney (he drew the pictures).  If you have a book with one of the new covers (like you see here) it was painted by Nathan Hale.  You can order that story online or ask for it at your local bookstore, if they don't have it they can order it (with your parent's permission, of course).  Stay cool, Debbie

falling leaves     Happy Fall!  Marin, I'm so glad you like Vampires Don't Wear polka dotsVampires Don't Wear Polka DotsEddie, Melody, Liza, and Howie are good friends of mine and I hope they are for you too.  Sherryanne, I'm glad you like the Bailey School Kids series.  I am writing a new book.  I've been rewriting a book about skateboarding.  Since I'm not an expert on skateboarding (I'm a chicken), I've doing research including asking my son Alex for advice, watching videos, and reading books.
And speaking of scary things, ski-diving was very scary The Worst Name in Third Gradefor me Camryn.  It was also exciting and awe-inspiring.  It's something I'm glad I did, but I don't know if I'll ever to it again.  Would you?
Harrylint, I think you should definitely read The Worst Name in Third Grade.  ttyl, Debbie

This Side of Magic     Hey Alex, so awesome to hear from you.  I'm so glad you like my books.  Did you know about my latest series that I wrote with Marcia Jones?  It's called the Keyholders.  It's a fantasy about three kids who have to keep the bad magic out of the real world.  It's funny you should write about a new series.  I'm supposed to find out this week about a series proposal.  A proposal is something a writer sends a publisher to see if they are interested in an The Wrong Side of Magicidea.  It usually includes character sketches (descriptions of the main characters), sample chapters, plot outlines, and ideas for books.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!  I think it would be great fun to write, but unfortunately most series ideas get rejected.  Take care and enjoy third grade, Debbie  (The other day I saw SIX deer and a hummingbird-how cool!)
