Happy Spring! Can you believe it? It's officially spring. I can't wait for warmer weather, shorts, and playing outside. Did you just get back from Spring Break? My kids just had a really short break and are back to school today. It was hard for them to wake up! We had a great Easter and a nice break. Yesterday, my youngest son and I went bowling. He beat me the first game, but I beat him the second. I couldn't believe it-I bowled 5 strikes and one spare!
A very happy spring to Kegan, Brady, Yamilet, Abby, Loan, Brandon, Regan, Alexis, Tosha, and Lizzie! Sean, I think elves had kids in stories. Leanna, in My Mom The Frog, the characters names are Jason, mom, dad, Mary, Clyde, and the frog! Andrew, I do like to write funny books. The Triple A sounds really cool Lisa.
Wow! Congrats to Braxton for reading 34 Bailey School Kids books! Alexandra, best of luck with your writing. Thanks to Kevin!!, Jada, Kaitlyn, and Caleb for your great ideas. Kevin!! you can write to me at Scholastic 557 Broadway NY, NY 10012.
Corinne, I'm glad you like Ghostville. Jeff, look on my homepage for writing tips. I have a link to a new writing page. I guess the biggest tip is to write, write, write!
Katie, I never know how many books I will sign at an event. Sometimes around fifty, sometimes thousands! It, of course, depends on the size of the event. Marianna and Katie, I WAS scared to sky-dive. Brandon, my next book is Cavemen DO Drive School Buses. Yes, Eric, The Worst Name in Third Grade is out.
Clay, check out my photo album for pictures. I hope to be adding more soon. Alex, the first Keyholder (A brand new series!!) will come out in April of 2009. b4n, Debbie

Wow, you guys have such awesome ideas! I love them all. Kevin!!, the Bailey School Cases are totally cool. SaraBella and LuLu, I love the pink hair. Emma and Braxton, what fun ideas! Lulu, it would be cool if they made the Bailey School Kids into a TV show. Maybe you guys can help. Write BookerTWorm@aol.com and ask him to put the Bailey School Kids books on their website.
Grant and Braxton, my newest book is Vampires Do Hunt Marshmallow Bunnies and the next one is Caveman Do Drive School Buses. Melissa, you are right. I was very excited when I published my first book (in fact-every book!)

Medaya, I don't know Gennifer. Jenny, in Swamp Monster in Third Grade, the effects of the carrot wears off the swamp monster. Emily, I do have a Wii in my house. It's my youngest son's though. He beats me every time we play tennis or pool or bowling! Your teacher can email me through the events area of my website. That email is only for adults to contact me. Taylor, if your parents want to order books, they can do it in my book section or just go to your local bookstore.
My first story (Christopher, that's Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots) came from a bad day. Isn't it funny what can give you an idea for a book, Caitlin? Nick, I'm glad you liked Dragons Don't Cook PIzza. I have a new dragon book called Dragons Don't Throw Snowballs. Also, I have Dragons DO Eat Homework. I hope you'll like them too.
Otis, I love strawberries! They are so goooooood! Cassidy, check out the Swamp Club and the Events section for info about me and Marcia. Taylor, I do have a huge stack of snail mail I need to answer. I promise to do it this week, but first I have an outline to finish for a new series that comes out next year.
Sue and Jacob, usually I write around a book a month, but sometimes it takes much longer. Each book is so different! Yes, Riley, I was so happy when I sold my first book. I danced on the tabletops! Stay cool and have fun reading, Debbie

Brrr from the frozen North! I couldn't even get home Friday night from my school visit because it was snowing too hard in Philadelphia. Luckily, I was able to get home on Saturday morning for a very important occasion, my daughter's comfirmation. Congratulations Becky!
Whitney, I usually write every day. Yes, Nicca, I do like to write because anything can happen in a story. Ella, I usually write one or two chapters a day at the most.
Catherine, believe it or not I was taking belly dancing classes! LIndsay, my Grandmother Bailey was so special to me. That must be why there are wonderful Grandmothers in Whistler's Hollow and Cherokee Sister. Katie, you should be able to get that book through my site (the book section) or get your local bookstore to order it for you, with your parent's help of course. Gig, I have three dogs. You can see them on the about me page. Tyul, I also have three wonderful kids and a fantastic husband named Eric. He's a chemist. He works to make new medicines to help people who are really sick.
Yes, Emily, I do like writing with my family. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Becky and I can get our book published. Hunter, Mummies Don't Coach Softball is the only BSK book about baseball. Shelby, I did have fun at your school.
Kevin, I think you had a good idea about Eddie learning the times table. Good luck with yours! Carlithia did you know you can print this page? It's sort of like a diary. I did want to skydive at first, but then I got scared. Has that ever happened to you?
Nikki, you can look on the swamp page for info about me and also on the events page. I hope Rose can find three interesting things there. On March the 12th, I will be in Ottawa, KS. Hopefully that is close to you Emily. If not, get your teacher to email me and I'll see what I can do about visiting your school. You sound like a wonderful girl. Perhaps you should give a bit of your money to the American Heart Association, buy books with a bit, and then save a bit.
Hannah and Zane, my newest book is Vampires DO Hunt Marshmallow Bunnies. Samantha, I do like the Worst Name in Third Grade.
I like unicorns too Karen. In fact, Marcia Jones and I just finished a book that will come out next spring that has a very smarty-pants unicorn in it. Yes, TaDymah, I did write Mrs. Jeepers Batty Vacation.
Many happy greetings to Chad, Helen, Mollie, Bri'shell, Jhaejaun, Tyler, Kyle, Caitlyn, Samuel, Hailee, Catherine C., Catherine, Catherine H. and Sidney. I hope life is good for you today.
