Are you doing a book report on me like Chloe?  Check out http://debbiedadey.com/Swamp/BookReport.php for a  cool form to use for your report.  I hope to add pictures to that soon.  Jake, I am from Kentucky and Ethan, I was married on June 11, 1983.

I know Tyler is doing a report because he wanted to know where I went to school.  1.  Weaverton Elementary grades 1-5 (I didn't go to kindergarten) 2.  Henderson County Middle School (6-8) 3.  Henderson County High (9-12) 4.  Western Kentucky University for undergraduate and graduate degrees   Tyler also wanted to know the best thing that ever happened to me.  Wow, that's tough.  There have been so many good things, like my faith, my family, and my passion for writing!    Caroline, I think a TV show would be cool too.  Actually, the Bailey books have been optioned once for a show, but it didn't work out.  Hopefully, it will happen again.

Karlie, it's nice to hear from you.  I'm glad you got my note.  Freedom, my next two books are Ghostville #17 (No Haunting Zone) and Pirates DO Ride Scooters.  Cameron, Skeletons Don't Play Tubas is my favorite BSK.  Hi to Shiru!  Gavi, I'm glad you liked my postcard.  Sorry I can't send you a book.  For security sake, I can't take your address over the Internet.  Some bad guy could read it!

Gabriella, I've written about 132 books.  My big news is that I just sold 4 more in a brand new series!  This website was developed last year and is still under construction so if you have suggestions, let me know.  I had another website that I designed about 10 years ago.  I shared it with Marcia Jones (www.baileykids.com).  Now Marcia has that website by herself.

Brittany and Evians, do you read my books in Braille?  Claire, I loved the second grade.  But in the third grade, my teacher was mean (or at least I thought so at the time!)  Hi to Zoe, Cyndy, and Bridgett.  Stay cool, Debbie   For the second and third grade after school readers, it's LI (LONG I) and za (emphasis on the za with a long a and the z makes a z sound) for Liza.    Kevin, Brittany, and Orjin, I look forward to reading your stories.  How awesome!

Kevin, believe it or not I knew all the songs from your sister's concert.  I do love to sing (I just don't sing well!)  There is a new game on the way, keep checking the Swamp Club for it.  You can snail mail me at 557 Broadway New York, NY  10012-3999.  (In the hallway, Mrs. Jeepers sucks Eddie's blood.  At least that what I think!)  I hope you have a great spring too!

Take care, Debbie

Welcome to another wonderful week.  I'm having so much fun writing a new Bailey School Kids book.  Guess what?  In this book, you find out what's REALLY in that coffin in Mrs. Jeepers' basement!

Kevin, thanks for another fun idea!  I hope you enjoyed #51, Dragons Don't Throw Snowballs.  I like the part where the kids hear the dragon outside the school and race to safety.  Guess what?  It's snowing here in Colorado right now.  We're supposed to get three to five inches.  I guess I'd better watch out for snow dragons.  Hey Cameron, my favorite Bailey School Kids book is Skeletons Don't Play Tubas.  What's yours?

Greetings Brittany!  Gabi, I'm glad you got my postcard.  Did you know you can order books through my site (with your parents, of course)?  Or check out the library or your local bookstore.  I'm excited about The Worst Name in Third Grade.   It comes out soon.  Speaking of that crazy book, here's the outline.  Brenton requested an outline last week.  I hope your writing is going well.  (For any book, I usually make a rough outline.)  Take care, Debbie

WorstName       Bridgett Butt - (The Worst Name in Third Grade)

  1. Bridgett gets teased because of her last name.  Her best friend, Amanda, defends her against a bully.  They both love their teacher.
  2. Their teacher tells them bad news:  she is moving.  Bridgett is crushed.  It's the worst thing that could happen.
  3. Bridgett pours her heart out to her dog.  The bully still teases Bridgett and even her brother isn't very nice to her.  Bridgett is determined not to be nice to the new teacher.
  4. Bridgett's best friend is a traitor.   She likes the new teacher with the funny name.
  5. Bridgett is mean to the new teacher, but when the bully teases again, Bridgett yells at him.
  6. Amanda has a new best friend-Carey.  Bridgett is heartbroken
  7. Bridgett's dog is sick and Bridgett's brother is actually nice, for a minute.
  8. Bridgett fights with her brother about her dog.
  9. Amanda and Bridgett have a fight and the bully teases her again.  This time Bridgett stands up for herself.
  10. The new teacher tries to get Bridgett to like her, but Bridgett is determined not to like anyone but her old teacher.
  11. When the bully makes fun of the new teacher and Bridgett, Bridgett has had enough.  She yells at the bully in front of his friends.  Amanda is proud of Bridgett for standing up for herself and for the new teacher.  Amanda, Bridgett, and Carey become friends.
  12. When Bridgett gets home, her dog is gone!  Bridgett is very worried.  Her brother tries to comfort her, but he's worried too.  When Mom brings their dog home from the bet, they are both relieved that he's okay.  They realize how lucky they are-even if they do have the last name of Butt.

Greetings to Hannah, Obum, Evelyn, and Payton! I'm sorry I can't write to you from the teacher's site. Please write to me on this site and I can answer you here. Payton, it is so cool that you and your friends have a Bailey Book Club. What a great idea. Please tell your friends I said HI!

Obum, I'm glad you like Slime Wars and Slime Time. Did you know that Nathan (my oldest son) and I wrote those books together? Evelyn, it takes me from 1 week to 8 years to write a book! Kevin, I like the sneak peek idea. Thanks! The newest book I'm working on is Mrs. Jeepers Creepy Christmas.

Brooke, I like to think my writing has gotten better. I hope so! I think practice helps everything. Amanda and Janessa, congratulations on finishing your books! That's awesome.

Hello to Mogie, Chandler, and Evelyn. Andrew, I have 3 children, 3 dogs, and one husband. Sayra, I used to teach first grade. Kalina, I wanted to write because I like to read so much. Marley, I get ideas from everywhere, including letters from kids!

Collin, I like doing crafts like stenciling, but mostly I scrapbook now. Chase, I'm really really old. In fact, Kathrine my birthday is May 18, 1959. Freedom, Mrs. Jeepers scares Eddie by turning into a vampire monster in the hallway. Mikaela, my son used to play hockey, but Marcia and I never got to play.

Taylor, Elfa, and Evelyn, it would be cool to visit your schools. Get your teachers to visit my events page for more information. Taylor, I'm so sorry to hear that your teacher died last year. I've never had that happen to me. It must be very hard. You are brave. I bet you could write a story about it.

Elfa, you are right sometimes it is difficult to travel and just stay for a quick bit. Morgan and Rose, I have two picture books and a new series (the Bailey School Kids Junior Chapter book series) that are easier.

Patrick, right now I live in Colorado. Brenton, I was thinking about you since I hadn't heard from you for a while. How cool that you're writing your own story. I'll dig out an outline for you.

HA! HA! Becky you are so funny. I love you too! (That's my daughter and she just got a new computer and she's emailing me like crazy!) Leah, I told Marcia that you liked Champ. That's her book. Nick, thanks for sharing your story.

Enjoy the spring, Debbie

Fun news from my webmaster! The Swamp Club has undergone a fun change.
Take a look: Swamp Club

Medaya & Nereyda, sorry the URL didn't work.  It has to be exact.  Click HERE to see the Photo Album.

Ben, that's cool that you're interested in rocks. We thought about doing a Medusa book before, but our editor was concerned that maybe kids didn't know about her. Maybe we should rethink. If you're interested in rocks you might like to read Mrs. Jeepers and the Monster Class Trip.

Hanna, good luck on your book report. I didn't use to like pumpkin pie, but now I do! Good luck also to Julia and NID on your reports. You might like to click on this link to take you to answers to my frequently asked questions: http://www.debbiedadey.com/About/FAQ/

In fact, that gave me an idea. I'm going to work on having a section of this site to help with book reports. What do you think? Of course, I'm writing a new book right now so it might take me a while.

srjsgr, that's a good idea about reviews. I'll add that to my huge list of things I'd love on the site.

Freedom, that's a cool name. Occasionally, Eddie is nice like in Reindeer DO Wear Striped Underwear.

Brittany and Kevin, it would be awesome to come to your schools. Unfortunately, I can't do any more school visits this school year, but maybe you could ask your teacher for next year.

Kevin, good luck with your writing and thanks for the super fun ideas! Brenda, thank you for letting me know about the dedication. I hope it went well. Brianna, Kayley, Evelyn, Wasim, and Lauren thanks so much for writing.

I hope you'll like the new Swamp Club!
Let me know what you think, Debbie

The great state of Alabama here I come!  While I won't be close to that area this week, I was so sorry to hear about the tornado in the southern part of the state.

I've been in three tornados and they were no fun.  The first one happened when I was a baby, the second  one when I lived in Kentucky, and the third time I lived in Texas.  The third time was the worst. We heard a roar like a train in the middle of the night and then a loud bang.  Our six-foot tall privacy fence was turned into toothpicks. People drove around our neighborhood to see all the destruction, but it was nothing like the terrible storm that destroyed the high school in Enterprise, Alabama.  My heart goes out to the families there.

Kevin, thanks for more fun ideas.  I particularly liked Ninjas Don't Chop Down Christmas Trees.

Samantha, I was sorry you were sick when I visited your school.  I loved the classes who dressed up as Bailey school kids characters.  How fun was that!  To answer your questions, I was about 27 when I started writing and sold my first book about a year and a half later.  You can find out more about me at http://www.debbiedadey.com/About/FAQ/ .

Hannah, my next book will be Pirates DO Ride Scooters.  Brand new is Red, White, and Boo!  (a Ghostville Elementary book).

Coming soon is The Worst Name in Third Grade.  This was already out in the book orders, but it will be in bookstores soon.  I would tell you what the worst name is, but it's really bad!

Fred, I like both bananas and pie.  Kenna, I can't think of a secret right now, except that I'm moving from Colorado to New Jersey (or Pennslyvania) this summer.  Oops, I guess that's not a secret anymore.

Hello back to you Will, Kirby and your cousin.  Thanks for your kind words Lane and Jesse.

Medaya, check my last posting for the address you can write to me.  I don't usually talk on the phone much.

Elfa and Carlos, when Marcia and I wrote Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots, we thought Mrs. Jeepers was a vampire.  Do  you?  My husband's name is Eric. Have a great week.  You are a great person.  Everyone is unique and you are the only you there is!

Take care, Debbie

P.S.  Check out the new pictures at http://www.debbiedadey.com/About/PhotoAlbum/ .  And to Wasim and Chantelle, don't forget that I can't answer student's emails from my the teacher's site.  Please write to me on this page and you will get a much faster response.  Wasim, the next Bailey School Kids book will be a Christmas special this winter.  Chantelle, my youngest son named Shadow after the dog in the book Homeward Bound.

Hi to Mrs. Sillers.  No, I'm not a teacher anymore, but I do visit schools to talk about my books and writing.  Most Bailey books have 13 chapters.

I'm so glad you like my books, Debbie
