Hi Erik, it was fun to work at McDonald's in high school. Mason, the name for Mr. Mason came from a phone book-we wanted to use it in Angels Don't Know Karate because it's a great name! Grace, a kareoke machine would be funny, but would it work underwater?
Grace and Zachary, my favorite series is the Bailey School Kids series because I have written more of them and know the characters better. Greta, Kailey, Bailey, Andrew, Maggie, Evan, and Gillian, today is my son's birthday, so my favorite book today is definitely Slime Wars! Happy Birthday Nathan! Sean, I hope you'll like it. Shaun, do you think we should write another Slime Wars? Tara, I'm glad you like it! Michael, my favorite part is when they bake the treats for the girls.
Sydney, I LOVE to read! Olivia, Kieera, Nick, and Christian-I'm thrilled that you enjoy my stories. Kieera, it varies how many books I write in a year-depending on how long each story takes. Brendan, my favorite food is strawberries!
Ty, Anna, Samantha, Tessa, Ben, Andrew, Basilio, Victoria, Adam, Macie, and Kaitlynn: sometimes ideas just pop into my head and sometimes something happens to give me an idea. Chiara, it's the same thing about series. I just see something and think, wouldn't that make a fun series? Joey, thanks for your fun idea! Yes, Hayden I have really sold over 47 million books. Sometimes I can't believe it. Mac, I've sold 158 stories to be made into books. Cameron, Kinley, and Matthew-the hardest BSK was Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips. The easiest BSK was Santa Claus Doesn't Mop Floors. Ryan, werewolves and mermaids are my favorite monsters.
Bridget, I'm so glad you love the Ghostville Elementary series. It's tough to pick my favorite, but today it is Ghosts Be Gone! Michael, you sound like an amazing reader!
Basil, Hannah, Kelly, Cassidy, Elizabeth, and James-your school is awesome!
Connor, I'm glad you like the Keyholders series. Your idea was great! Brandon, the third one is my favorite. Which one is yours?
Nick and Brielle, today my favorite Swamp Monster in third Grade book is Trapped in the Principal's Office. What's yours? Ryan and Ademore, there are no plans to make any more, but there are plans so far for 12 Mermaid Tales books.
Katie and Honor, Marcia and I did a lot of brainstorming to make Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots. Alexandra, I hope you have an awesome year too! My next booksigning will be at the Tinicum Arts Festival, you can get my autograph then if you live nearby. Rohan, my longest book was Cherokee Sister. Max and Ben, I do think it is fun to write because anything can happen in a story!
Mattie, Sue is my middle name and life is pretty good. Erik, I am a lady. Ryleigh, I have three children.
Scott, my 10th book was Witches Don't Do Backflips. Isabella, I understand what you teacher is saying, but you might mention to her that sometimes it's great just to read for fun! Have the most amazing week ever, Debbie

Hi Logan, I like basketball too! My favorite part of Leprechauns Don't Play Basketball is the honeybee waltz. See you at lunch on Friday! Elias, you're right! Abby and Jessica, I'm delighted that you like the Bailey School Kids books. Do you have a favorite? Ryan, there are 51 numbered Bailey School Kids books and 14 specials. Tyler, I have done 13 series.
Chiara and Olivia, I'd be happy to take a picture with you if it's okay with your teachers and we have time. Yes, Baylor and Maggie, I am working on a new series. Tyler, I'm glad you like My Mom the Frog. I thought it was a fun story.
Caroline, Aidan, and Charlotte: it's so cool that you like the Mermaid Tales series. I have having so much fun writing it! Right now, there are 12 planned. Evelyn, whenever I write a story I do research. I was reading about sea horses and thought it would be fun to write about them. That's where the idea for the next Mermaid Tales book came from, The Secret Sea Horse. Elizabeth, right now The Lost Princess is my favorite Mermaid Tales.
Jessica, you sound like a really fast reader. I did research for Wolfmen Don't Hula Dance by going to Hawaii! A big hello and thanks to Jesse, Abby, Marc, and Mounir. Lily, I started being a cheerleader in fifth grade. Natalia, I never looked in my mom's diary because she didn't keep one. Brodie and Eli, my favorite book today is Angels Don't Know Karate.
Nina and Gavin, I was 27 when I first started writing. Nina, I'm happy you like Angels Don't Know Karate. I enjoyed writing about a nice creature.
Gabby, Debbie was my father's idea. He wanted his children to have easy names because he had a very unusual one. Alison, I do think it is fun being an author. Aidan, I'm glad you like the Triplet Trouble books. Who is your favorite character? Did you know I actually had a dog named Cleo?
Ben and Jake, I get ideas from everywhere, including things I like to do. Like I like camping and hiking and so does Marcia, so we wrote Werewolves Don't Go To Summer Camp. Benjamin, I have written and sold 158 stories to be made into books. Shannon, my best book depends on what you like. Because everyone likes different things, everyone will like different kinds of books. Which one do you think is the best? Have a safe, happy Thursday, Debbie

I am looking forward to my school visit this Friday and I thank everyone for their great questions! Here are my answers. Meghan, Jessica, Kiera, Ethan, Ali, Marissa, Nick, and Erik-I have sold 158 stories to be made into books. Carly, I was a cheerleader for a couple of years. Grace, Ali, and Bianca, my first book was Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots. Scott and Matthew, it came out in 1990. Nick, that first book turned into my first series-The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids. Cody, I've never counted up how many kids have written to me online, but it's been quite a few.
Molly, Susan, Ella, and Jordan, as you can imagine it is hard to pick my favorite Bailey School Kids book, but today I'm feeling very partial to Sea Monsters Don't Ride Motorcycles. Matt and Steven, I was 27 when I wrote my first book for publication.
Haley, Lucas, and Abigail, story ideas can come from anywhere-from something that happens to you to something you read about in the paper. The idea for Bigfoot Doesn't Square Dance came from a newspaper article. Kat, I do like to write and it's fun to write with Marcia. Marissa, I wanted to be an author because I love to read so much.
Izzy, I live in PA. and Marcia lives in KY. The hardest Bailey School Kids book to write was Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips. Joe, it took two years! Luan, not sure what you are asking. Kelly and Matthew, my favorite ice cream is Butter Pecan.

Dylan, it's cool that you write books with a friend. And so many! Jack, good luck with your writing. Jack, Matt, Nick, and Mark-I like to write because I think it's fun and because anything can happen in a story.

Kylie, Bailey is seventeen, which is really old for a dog. Jessica, I have three children and three dogs. My handsome husband is named Eric.

Gavin, I'm so glad you like my books. Chris, it's hard to pick a favorite because I like all my books, but since it's close to summer I'm liking Trolls Don't Ride Rollercoasters. Do you have a favorite? Elias, only one Bailey School kid has a last name, do you know which one? Do you think Marcia and I should write a new BSK? We never told what state Bailey City is in because we felt like everyone should feel like it's in their state.
Karissa, I started writing professionally at age 27. Arianna, I do like to play tennis. In fact, I'm playing today! Wish me luck. Sofia, my children don't like playing tennis. I wish I could get them to like it. Do you like playing tennis? If you are already on summer vacation, hope you'll print out my bookmark. Hopefully you'll win a prize! Have a fabulous week, Debbie

Dear Olivia, it takes different amounts of time for different books. Cherokee Sister took me eight years! Cassidy, I think I do remember every title. Stefano, I'm so glad you like Slime Wars. I had fun writing it with my son, Nathan. Andrew, I'm really, realy old! Alexandra, I think my favorite joke in the Bailey School Kids joke book is the one that's something like "What's creepy and has a red nose?" It's Rudolph, the red-nosed zombie! Hi to Alex and Debbie!
Fred, it's cool that you are reliving the Bailey School Kids books. You might even like to say hi on Facebook.com/debbiedadey. Marcia and I never said for sure what state the Bailey School Kids lived in, but I always thought it could be Ohio.
Maggie, I do like being an author. This week I plan to learn and write about crabs! I'll also be skyping with two schools, visiting one school in New Jersey, and speaking at a writer's conference. I'll also get to meet my summer Intern, so it should be a busy week.
James and Erik, most of my series you don't have to read in order, athough lots of people do like to start with number one. My first book was Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots. One series you probably should read in order is the Keyholder series. Have a great week, Debbie
