Vampires Don't Wear Polka DotsDear Olivia, I'm so glad you are enjoying Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots.  Did you know it was my first book?  I do enjoy visiting schools and would love to visit yours.  Ask your teacher or librarian to contact me here and perhaps we can work it out.  .
Abbi, I am making another book.  I am working on one about two sisters fighting.  Have a great Thursday, Debbie

Dear JoAnn, What an interesting idea.  I do like songs and have some in several of my books, even in the new Mermaid Tales series.  I heard some kids singing "Row, row row your A Whale of a Taleboat, gently down the stream.  Throw your teacher overboard . . ." yesterday.  Do you know which book of mine that is in?
Kyla, it is cool that you like Kiki.  You can find out more about her by clicking here and on her name.  Kiki's next adventure will be in book 7.  It's called Dream of the Blue Turtle and it's about a huge Leatherback Turtle.  It will come out in January of 2014.  Have a great Wednesday, Debbie

Dear Alexandra, Alix, Joshua S., Tory, Garrett and Samantha-I get ideas from everywhere, even the newspaper!  Alix, the Bailey School Kids series is my favorite because I've Battle of the Best Friendswritten the most of them.  Alexandra, I'm glad you like Battle of the Best Friends.  Samantha, it is fun to write about monsters!  Tory, I've sold 158 stories to be made into books.
Olivia, Allie, and Eric-your school seems awesome!  Elizabeth and Sydney, I like to read so I thought it would be cool to write something that someone else might like to read.  Jacob, a new hobby of mine is researching my ancestors.  For instance, I found out my direct ancestor, King John, signed a document called the Magna Carta.
Ethan and Madison, thanks for your fun ideas!  Ethan, I write my stories a little at a time. Jadon, Amanda, Emily, and Luke-I'm so glad you like my books.  Emily, I do have some other series ideas in the works.  Amanda, I'm glad you like Aliens Don't Wear Braces.  Hi Nalani.
Joshua S. and Robbie (I do like science!)-it is hard to pick one favorite story.   Jack, I do like sports and will play tennis later today.  Lizzie and Richard-my favorite character in The Ghosts Don't Eat Potato ChipsWorst Name in Third Grade is Bridget!  In any book, I'll have to pick Eddie.  Guess what Tyler and Garrett?  There really is a Bridget Butt!  Joshua S., it takes different amounts of time to write a book-the longest was eight years.  Sydney and John, it usually takes about a month to write a Bailey School Kids book, but Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips took two years!
Darcy, my daughter and I wrote a book about a girl who broke her leg playing soccer.  Richard, my favorite color is blue and I do like blueberry pie.
Rylan, so sorry I mispelled your name.  I was 27 when I sold my first book and I had been writing for about a year Mermaids Don't Run Trackand a half before that.  Michael and John, I do like being a writer and visiting schools.  Egypt is the farthest I've traveled for a school visit.  Right now, I am working on an outline for a book about lampreys, an interesting ocean creature.  Lauren, I'm glad you like Mermaids Don't Run Track.  If you live close to Watchung, NJ I hope you can come to the Watchung Booksellers on Monday at 4:00.  I'll be there!  Have a great weekend, Debbie

Dear Jessica, the wolf-fish is pretty creepy.  It has a huge head with really big teeth.  I think an even creepier-looking fish is the hairy angler.  It has a big mouth, but what's strange is that is has these long fin rays all over it's naked- looking body.  Check them out-I think they are both in my glossary.  Best, Debbie
