Rush, you are a fast reader! I'd be delighted to get a letter from you too. It would be fun to write another Frankenstein book. Right now, I'm starting a book about a book about a whale! Taft, I hope there will be more Keyholder books. My favorite movie right now is Wild Hogs. Lizzie, I'm a dog lover. ttyl, Debbie

Hi guys! It's really cold here this morning and it made it so hard to get out of bed. I wanted to stay under the warm covers. Do you ever have mornings like that?
Sam, I have lots of favorite books like Where the Red Fern Grows and A Long Way From Chicago. Richard Peck is one of my favorite authors. Nabila, I had two oranges this morning with my sourdough toast, strawberries, two glasses of water, and coffee. I always have a big breakfast. You know what hey say-"It's the most important meal of the day."
Hi Rush, it's cool that you like Frankenstein books. They are really fun to write. Have you seen Frankenstein Doesn't Slam Hockey Pucks? Since my oldest son and husband played hockey, they gave me lots of ideas for the story. Taft, you sound like a great brother. Why don't you send me a snail mail letter and I'll tell you more about Mrs. Jeepers Creepy Christmas? You can write me at Scholastic 557 Broadway NY, NY 10012. Campbell, my children are named Nathan, Becky, and Alex. Take care and stay warm, Debbie

Ann and Jack, Marcia and I thought it
would be fun to take the Bailey School Kids on some vacations and so began the Specials. The idea for Super Special #3, Mrs. Jeepers' Secret Cave, came from Mammoth Cave. It's a cave in Kentucky that's amazing to visit. It is actually the longest cave system in the world. I've been to it many times and it definitely inspired our story. Check out all our specials.
Shelby, I think my characters are based on people I know and sometimes myself! Angel, I think the fact that I liked reading helped me to be a writer. Also, my grandmother always kept a diary and I thought that was cool. Jake, I do care for the environment. In fact, I am an Author for Earth Day.
Campbell, I get ideas from everywhere-even the newspaper! Julia, it was fun talking to your school. To became an author you must do one thing: write a lot! Chassity, would you believe I was born a million years ago? Shane, you are right. Sometimes it is hard to get started on a new book. It's scary starting something new, but once I get into it I get excited about the story. Jaden, my little white dog is named Skip. We usually call him Skippy. Thanks for all your great questions, Debbie

Hey Taft, I agree with you. I think the Bailey School Kids books would make a fun cartoon. I honestly don't know who optioned it and would have to dig through my records to find out. It happened twice. Marcia and I did sell the rights to make the Bailey School Kids books into a traveling professional play which is still in the works. ttyl, Debbie

Greetings from the land of ice and snow! Nabila, I was 27 when I sold my first book. I'd been writing for about a year and a half before that. Sunny, not sure what to tell you about the next Keyholders. I'm waiting on my editor to decide. I want to write more! Olivia, hope you are having a good week-thanks for your kind words. Beca, hope you feel better soon. Take care, Debbie
