Greetings earthlings! Hope all is well on this planet. Alex, I hope you understand why we're not able to put last names(It's a safety thing), but you're welcome to say you're Alex the Red, or Alex the Brave, or even Alex the cutest guy on earth! You can put your questions right here and I'll answer them. You can also look on my website at http://www.debbiedadey.com/Swamp/BookReport.php and http://www.debbiedadey.com/About/Debbie/ . The author of the month bulletin board might even have some things you can use on your report.
Destiny, I'm glad you liked Zombies Don't Play Soccer. Vivian, hello to you and I hope you understand about the last name thing too. You could be Vivian the Great! Sara, it was cool to visit your school last year and I'm so glad you're enjoying my books. Harry, I do believe in Bigfoot, don't you? Did you know my picture is in Bigfoot Doesn't Square Dance? I'm Ranger Lily. I do a lot of research for every book I write and so I've found out a lot of the folklore and legends surrounding different creatures. Courtney, I want to try your recipe. Do you know what kind of pickle? The Theatreworks Bailey School Kids play has been postponed until next year. I was pretty bummed about it being delayed, but I can look forward to it next year. Brenton from Australia, how is your writing going? You might want to check out this Scholastic writing contest at http://www.scholastic.com/bookfairs/contest/kaa_about.asp. No word about Bridgett Butt
in fourth grade or another possible Bridgett book either. I think I'll ask today, just to check.
I did get two items done on my 2009 begining of the year list, so I'm rolling. Have a great week. brb, Debbie

Happy 2009! I hope you read lots of great books this year. It's back to school time for most people, so no more sleeping late. For me, I want to set some goals for myself.
What I want to do to start off 2009:
1. Continue volunteering at Christ's Home (hopefully spearhead a basement renovation project)
2. Finish writing my time travel/mystery/historical novel.
3. Eat right and exercise more (I got WII fit for Christmas!)
4. Clean up my desk!
5. Make a trailer for some of my books.
6. Look into creating a local reading project.
7. Math or reading practice everyday with a special someone!
8. Redo the swamp club and try to make a video game and work on my photo album.
9. Finish painting my office and fix my office curtains.
10. Schedule some booksignings for the new Keyholder series.
Okay, now I've made a list, so that means I need to really do all of the above! I love making lists and crossing things off when I've accomplished them. It makes me feel so successful. So, what about you guys: Karye, Courtney, and Tina? What do you plan to do in 2009? I hope school is a lot of fun this year for you. Courtney, I imagine any new BSK books will have the new covers as well. What in the world is a fried pickle? I like pickles, but fried sounds really weird. Hey Vivian, it would be cool to visit your school. Take care, Debbie

I hope you are all having a great winter vacation. I had a fun Christmas. What a wonderful time of the year! I celebrated by going to church to remember the real reason for Christmas, spending time with my family, exchanging presents, and eating lots of yummy food. This year, I received lots of wonderful gifts. One was a digital camera, which I hope to use to put more pictures on my website, especially in my photo album.
Happy New Year to Karye, Vivian, Rebekah, Jennifer, Donte, and Neomi! Amon, you can find out more about me on my book report page, like the fact that I was born on May 18, 1959. I'm so glad you like my books. Donte and Katie, I do enjoy visiting schools. Your teacher can visit the events section of my website or contact SNooney@scholastic.com to find out how I can visit your school.
Courtney, no one knows for sure what Mrs. Jeepers said to Eddie in the hallway, but I think it was scary, don't you? So far, there have been about twenty cover changes for the Bailey School Kids series. I think Scholastic is working on changing them all, but they don't know for sure. In 2009, I hope to have all the new covers up on my site. I've put up the original cover and the new cover for my first book, Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots. Which one do you like best? I think the newest change is Unicorns Don't Give Sleigh Rides.
Can you believe it's almost 2009? I wonder what exciting things will happen next year? I'm looking forward to my new series, Keyholders. Let's enjoy the excitement and promise of a new year-anything could happen! ttyl, Debbie

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here! Every tree, blade of grass, and fence post has beautiful icicles hanging from it. It's a winter wonderland. (It's the perfect place for a snow monster like in my upcoming book, Snow Monsters Do Drink Hot Chocolate.) It's available from Scholastic for just $1! The idea for the snowboarder came from my kids, all of whom snowboard (some better than others).
So Carolina, if this ice keeps up, I'll be ready to fly off to someplace warm and toasty. Florida sounds fun. If your teachers are interested they can contact me. Richard, now you know what my next book is-Snow Monsters Do Drink Hot Chocolate! Hmmm, hot chocolate sounds really good. I think I'll go have some..... Merry Christmas and for my Jewish friends, Happy Hanukkah, Debbie

Happy Holidays from Liza and Debbie Dadey! Liza's favorite holiday book is definitely Unicorns Don't Give Sleigh Rides. She loves horses (just like me). I always wanted one when I was growing up. Does every kid dream of that or was that just me? Tiffany, you can find out more about Liza for your report at meet Liza on my Swamp Page. She lives on the same
street as Eddie and Melody, although the name is never given in any books. There is a map of Bailey City in Mrs. Jeepers is Missing you might want to check it out. You sound like a fabulous reader. My book report page might be helpful as well. Lexi, you're awesome too. Thanks for writing, Debbie (Just found out there's a new cover for Unicorns Don't Give Sleigh Rides-check it out on Amazon.com._
