Dear Lily, I wear glasses to read and use the computer. I love freckles. When I was a kid I wanted The Slime Warsto have them. Maybe those other kids are jealous! I check the Kid's Talk every morning and then I do my writing. I understand that not everyone likes to write like I do, but the winners will be chosen for creativity. There will be separated into two groups, 1-2 and 3-4.
Yes, my kids did like slime when they were younger. In fact, my oldest son and I wrote two books about slime!
I wrote a book called The Worse Name in Third Grade about a girl named Bridgett Butt. The blog is her's. I don't know where Glenville, TN is, but my area does have a lot of tourists. I live away from the touristy area though.  Have a super awesome weekend, Debbie

Dear Autumn, What do you think a mermaid's voice sounds like? I've always wondered.
Lily, I live in the Smoky Mountain area of Tennessee. I meet kids virtually (usually through Zoom) through their schools by doing author visits or read-alouds. My next free read-aloud is May 7th. Ask your teacher if they'd be interested in having me read aloud to your class. If you homeschool with a parent, I could still do it. An adult would need to contact me about it here. Have you considered a virtual book club-maybe with other homeschoolers? For the Haunted Ship Writing contest, feel free to write about anything. There does need to be something about a haunted ship in the story though. You could even make it silly! Good luck with it, Debbie

Dear Kayla M., Happy St. Patrick's Day! It's so cool that you started a book club. Have you check out this memaid book club page? Have fun at school!
Lily, I love to read too. Congrats on your story! The Crook and the Crown There is no entry fee for the Haunted Ship Writing Contest. On April 1st, my webmaster has promised to add how to enter online. Right now, have fun brainstorming ideas and writing. The Crook and the Crown is a mystery and the next book, Sleepover at the Haunted Museum, is also a mystery. It takes different amounts of time to write a book, depending on the book. One took me eight years! Have a super awesome day, Debbie
