Hi Emma and Emily, I'm glad you like the Bailey School Kids books.  My favorite food is strawberries.  Daniel, Cameron, and Connor it is hard to choose one favorite-but Werewolves Don't Go To Summer Camp is definitely one of them.
Daniel and Sarah, I love to read.  That and the fact that The Worst Name in Third Grademy grandmother kept a diary inspired me to want to write.  Ian, I wrote my first story for publication when I was 27.  Abby, when I was a kid I wanted to be president!
Madison, to recommend a book I need to know what you like.  Do you like sports, fashion, mysteries, silly, fantasy?  There is rarely a book that everyone likes.
Jessica, I have never really been stumped on what to write because I keep a file of ideas of things that I want to write about if I ever get the time!  Daniel, my first book was Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots.  Morgan, there was girl who lived in my neighborhood and her last name was Snotgrass.  Sometimes people teased her about her name and I didn't think it was fair.  That led me to write The Worst Name in Third Grade.  It might interest you to know that it was orginally called The Worst Name in Fifth Grade and my editor wanted me to change it.
Alanis, I love mermaids too!  Did you know that The Lost Princess just came out this week?  Julia, the Bailey School Kids books are a bit creepy, mysterious, and funny while the Keyholders are harder with fantasy.  Hey Trey, do you think Inside the Magicwe should write an anniversary edition of the Bailey School Kids books?  My next book comes out in Sept. and it is the Secret Seahorse.  Cade, I get ideas from everywhere-even kids who write me.  Cade and John, my first book came out in 1990.  Sonia, your story sounds awesome.  You might like to check out my writing page.
Adekumni, I have only written one book for adults:  Story Sparkers.  John, I must like chemistry-my husband is a chemist!  I must like microbiology because my daughter is majoring in immunology and toxicology.    Do you like chemistry and biology?  Have a great day, Debbie

Dear Alexis, Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips did take two years to write!  Marcia and I changed it so many different Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chipstimes-once it was called Crows Don't Live in Haunted Houses.  Auburn Mysteries sounds cool!
Barbara, I have lots of favorites.  Right now, my favorite is The Lost Princess.  I love the story and cover and it comes out in a few days.  If you want a sneak peek you can listen to chapter one by clicking here and scrolling down to the bottom.  Luckily, if you live close to Hudson, NY you will get to see it early.  They were able to get it for the Hudson Children's Book Festival on Saturday.  Hope to see you there, Debbie

Hi Brooklyn, the Bailey School Kids marry each other!  Wow, I never thought about that.  Marcia and I sent the ideas to Werewolves Don't Go To Summer Campour Scholastic editor (who is kind of like our boss) and she will decide if she wants to do an anniversary editon.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  If your class wants to help, you can write to Bailey School Kids editor  Scholastic 557 Broadway NY, NY 10012.
Mya, I'm glad you like Genies Don't Ride Bicycles.   The illustrator used a hardware man as a model for the genie.  Clacy, I'm so happy you enjoyed Werewolves Don' t Go To Summer Camp.  Destiny, thanks so much for writing, but be careful to never give your address and email to something that will be posted on the Internet.  I preview every one of the Kid's Talk so that no private information is released, but not all sites do that and I want you to be safe.  Unfortunately there are real monsters in this world!  brb, Debbie

Karlee, I hope you are enjoying Aliens Don't Wear Braces.  Good luck with your braces.  I wore braces for 4 years!  Emily, I'm so happy you like the Mermaid Tales series.  The Lost Princess is number five.  I think it's my favorite so far of Monsters Don't Scuba Divethe Mermaid Tales.
Elias, I really hope we get to write an anniversary edition of the Bailey School Kids.  It would be so fun!  Maleah, look out for sea monsters!  I actually got to go to Scotland and went to see Loch Ness.  The loch or lake is really, really dark so there could be anything in there-even Nessie!
If you live near Albany, NY I hope to see you Saturday.  I will be at the Albany Children's Book Festival all day and speaking at 10:30.  Have a great weekend, Debbie
