Dear Anais, Pink is nice, but blue is my favorite. Veronique, I have been to Canada three different times. There are many beautiful places there. VerНадежда, thank you for the compliment. Becena, red hair is awesome. Wilemijn, how many languages do you speak? Frances, I like Disney too. In fact, I wrote a book series for Disney Hyperion called Barkley’s School for Dogs with my friend Marcia. Kate, that’s cool. Taryn, as long as you are happy with your voice that’s what’s important. Unfortunately, there always seems to be unkind people. Amanda, I totally think it would be fun to have a Mermaid Tales movie! Have a great week. I live in Tennessee, but not where the tornadoes hit. I pray for everyone’s safety. Best, Debbie

Dear Blair, Thanks for knowing about the unicorn of the sea (like the narwhal in The Narwhal Problem). DJ, the Bailey School Kids books are about a group of four kids trying to save their school from very unusual grown-ups, who might just be monsters! Rosie, I’m glad you won’t do that again. Amanda, that is untrue. Madelyn, I have a lot to learn about giraffes, but they sound very interesting. It’s a good thing they only need to drink every couple of days. Happy Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day, Debbie

Dear Mary, One of my favorite books for this time of year is definitely Leprechauns Don’t Play Basketball. Do you have a favorite? Haley, I get ideas from everywhere, even the newspaper! Nadia, I try for about 42 manuscript pages. Apriliana, I think my funniest chapter is in Ghouls Don’t Scoop Ice Cream. Lis, did you know there is a Bailey School Kids joke book? Mikha, I do not like to gossip. Liyana, some people would say that Pearl is my meanest character, but I think she is just misunderstood because I don’t think kids are mean. Amylea, my favorite color is blue. Marsha, I would love to be able to speak another language beside English. It’s cool that you can! Have a super great weekend, Debbie

Dear Angie, I haven’t seen Frozen 2 yet. I loved the first one though. Hannah and Chloe, I have lots of favorite books of mine! One is The Polar Bear Express. Do you have a favorite of mine?
Selah, thanks from the kind words from Egypt. I was lucky enough to do an author visit at the Cairo American College years ago. The lovely people there took me (and my son) to the Pyramids of Giza and the Step Pyramids. It was an amazing experience.
Hola Amanda. I know that means hi! I know that bano means bathroom.
Hallie, I like to learn new things when I write stories. Right now, I’m learning that there is bacteria that eats sunken ships! Christopher and Ahyma, there are many things I enjoy about being an author. Being able to to work at home is pretty great, but creating new worlds is the best! See some of you soon! Best, Debbie

Dear Idina, I do think your name is cool. Thanks for the kind words! Madelyn, what an interesting question. I bet it depends on if they went blind or if they were born blind.
DJ, my most famous series is probably the Bailey School Kids. Raquel, as you may know the next Mermaid Tales book is the Winter Princess. The title for the next one is undecided, but it will be about a sleepover. I am starting to write the one that comes out after that now! Kristen, are you Albanian? Amanda, let’s learn some words together. Here’s an easy one. Adiós, Debbie

Dear Klodiana and Alma, I hope you’ll take a peek at my writing page because you obviously have potential in writing stories.
Rosie S., I hope you and your friend had fun at the Mermaid Tales birthday party! That was so nice of you! Did you know I have party ideas on my mermaid activities page and that Battle of the Best Friends is about a birthday party? Please tell your friend I said hi!
DJ, I know everyone is concerned about the flu. My daughter is an immunologist and she knows the best thing to do: wash your hands!
Madelyn, I’m so glad you had a fun St. Valentine’s Day. I did too. My husband and I had a nice dinner, then we went to my first opera (Romeo and Juliet). It was in Italian, but since I know the story I could understand it!) Antolena, I hope you’ll forgive your friend since she didn’t know. Shela, I would avoid sunfowers forever if I were you.
Thanks for the warm wishes Amanda and Raquel. I send you greetings for a Happy President’s Day! Best, Debbie

Dear Amanda, Wow! Seventeen dogs! That’s a LOT of dogs. I have two and they keep me busy! I do like dogs and even wrote a series about dogs called Barkley School for Dogs with my friend Marcia. Madelyn, zebras and pufferfish are pretty cool. Zelda, I bet everyone is related to royalty if they go back far enough. Have a super amazing week and read something fun! Best, Debbie

Dear Madison, Please tell your teacher I said hi! Believe it or not Madelyn, I have written about both of those. The zebra is in a picture book called Will Rogers, Larger Than Life. Amanda, does your grandmother have a lot of dogs? Raquel, I’m glad your book buddy likes the Mermaid Tales. You rock! Hi Abbigayle! Have a great weekend, Debbie
