Dear Harmony, I am working on a new story and having a lot of fun with it. I do have a new book coming out this summer called The Winter Princess. Is Isn’t that a crazy time for a book about winter? Anyway, I really love the illustrations (by a lady named Tatevik Avakyan) and the story- hope you will too. It is the next book in the Mermaid Tales series. Stay safe and well at home, Debbie

Dear Suzy, A sequel to Vampires Don’t Wear Polka Dots (to let the parents know what happened) is an interesting idea! I’m glad you saw my Facebook author page video where I read the originial ending. Raquel, I hope your online schooling is going well. Did you know I have a teachers’ page that might be helpful? Amanda, there has been some misinformation about the virus online. I hope you will get to go camping another time. Madelyn, thanks for thinking of me. I am safe and well. Hope you are too!
Rosie S., I probaby won’t add to Bridgett’s blog, It goes with the book, The Worse Name in Third Grade.
DJ, Someone may have a boyfriend or girlfriend someday in the Mermaid Tales series-you never know! Have a great day and stay well, Debbie

If you are having school at home this week, please ask your parent or teacher to let you watch me at 2:00 Eastern on Facebook Live. Today, I will be sharing some secrets about my books. Tomorrow, we will tour my office. On Thursday, we’ll write a Bailey School Kids short story together and on Friday, I’ll do a read aloud. You can always watch them later if you can’t participate live. Hope to ‘see’ you there, Debbie

Dear Rosie S., I do my best writing in the morning. So right after this, I will write! A while back, an editor for Simon and Schuster asked me to write a new series for them. After brainstorming for six months, the idea for Mermaid Tales developed! Kazhe, I hope you’ll like my Mermaid Tales Kid’s Club. Farisha, I enjoyed writing the poems for The Polar Bear Express. Maybe you’ll enjoy these poetry cards.
DJ, good luck in school! Raquel, Switzerland was lucky never to have been invaded during WWII. It became a haven for refugees.
Amanda, everyone has been nervous about the Corona Virus and it’s good to be careful. Wash your hands very well and stay home as much as possible. It’s a good time to read and relax! Luckily, children are not as vunerable as older people. Writing your thoughts down might be a good way to feel better. Many blessings, Debbie

Dear Hanna-Liina, everyone has problems. I have been very lucky, but just this week I had to go to the hospital. Everything is fine though. Heli, what do you think another Bailey School Kids book should be about? Maria-Lucia, which book of mine did you read in Danish? Kristine, I will try to eat better! DJ, there is an old song called Mr. Bo Jangles that I have always liked. Madelyn, I need to learn more about Pluto! Rosie S, I love to read and that made me want to write my own stories! Dear DJ, I have lots of favorites. One is The Polar Bear Express! Gisela, do you also speak and read English? Ana, meat comes from animals. Carmen, I agree that age is just a number.
Laura, for me the best place on earth is home. Amanda, hail can be scary! Yikes! Paula, lots of people are afraid of this new virus. The best thing to do is to wash your hands longer than usual and avoid touching your face. Madelyn, congrats on your project! Debbie, my favorite cheese is cheddar.
Allijah, you might like to check out my writing page. I think the best thing is to brainstorm (or consider lots of different ideas) for what could happen next in your story. Then pick the idea that you like best. I like your title and that you are planning ahead!
Monika, 康提 and Andrea-hi! Tereza, me too! Natasha, I have been to Split, Croatia. Do you read my books in English? Kristina, I think that game isn’t too bad as long as you do safe things! Sementa and 乔贝尔, I do like to sing (I sing in my church choir). Sementa, good luck with you lessons. Gisela, I bet your hair is pretty. Mar, do you have a favorite game? 康提, I am curious. Which book of mine did you like? Did you read it in English or Chinese? Have a super awesome week and thanks so much for writing to me, Debbie
