Dear Dylan and Princess Kayla, Yes, in Battle of the Best Friends it was Pearl’s birthday! What day do you think her birthday should be?
Alicia, I always wanted a horse when I was young. That’s part of the reason I wrote The Secret Sea Horse. Yes, it was super scary to slide into the shark tank. I got to the top of this huge slide and I lost my nerve. I wanted to turn around and go down the steps, but tons of people were behind me-including lots of kids. I took a deep breath and decided if kids were brave enough, surely I could be! It was actually very exciting. Luckily, the sharks were on the other side of a glass wall! Was I crazy to do it? Have a wonderful weekend, Debbie

Dear Alicia, It was very interesting learning about sharks for the book, Danger in the Deep Blue Sea. Guess what, I slid down a huge slide into a shark tank one time! Luckily, it was nurse sharks and not great whites! (And there was a glass wall betweent us!)
Princess Kayla, the story with Queen Edwina and King Rudolph is the Crook and the Crown. Your brother sounds a lot like Rocky! Have a wonderful day, Debbie

Dear Princess Kayla, Books rule in Books vs Looks! What is your favorite type of shark? Aren’t hammerhead sharks interesting? Say hi to Dot for me! Here’s the Which kind of merperson are you quiz in case anyone else wants to try it.
Alicia, my favorite Mermaid Tales book is now The Winter Princess. My second favorite is The Polar Bear Express. Stay safe and God bless, Debbie

Dear Alicia, Thanks for sending the post for MerStyle magazine #6. Now, I need to get busy making the next one! If anyone else wants to submit you can find out how here. I actually just finished the edits to Mermaid Tales #21 which comes out next year. It’s called Sleepover at the Haunted Museum. Hi Brent!
Princess Kayla, greetings to you and your new friend. What is your favorite Mermaid Tales book today? Have a wonderful day, Debbie

Dear Princess Kayla, your talk share sounds cool! Katherine, thanks for your kind words. You have a great daughter!
Alice, tell your dad to contact me about a virtual visit and we’ll figure something out. I’m not currently scheduling in-person visits for this fall. I’m so glad you like the Mermaid Tales. Maybe my writing page might be useful when you write your own stories. Good luck!
Layla, I will never get over my family’s tragedy, but I am trying to cope with it. I hope you are feeling much better and I’m saying a prayer for you. I had fun figuring out Lillian’s past! She is named after my grandmother. Princess Liliana, a tiara is always fun!
Xaia Lui, there is an online program called Ancestry.com. According to that I am a descendant of Cleoptra. It is based on other’s people’s research so that is always a bit iffy!
Emily, I am curious. Do you have a favorite book of mine? Riley, I think Helena was satisfied with her family. I think she felt she had more love to offer.
Jasmine, the story you are thinking of is The Crook and The Crown. Kaul, I’m glad you like that one. I agree that virtual school is difficult. Stay safe, Debbie

Dear Princess Kayla, Hurrah to your mom for taking COVID seriously. So many deaths could have been avoided if people had simply worn masks and taken precautions. Tell your 2nd grade teacher I said hello (online) and if she wants me to stop in to say hi, let me know! Best, Debbie

Dear Princess Kayla, I’m a lot older than you so I should have been to more places! I eventually hope to visit Oregon and Washington state-the only two states I haven’t visited. Stay well. Will you be going to school at home? Best, Debbie

Dear Princess Kayla, I hope you’ll like MerStyle magazine #5. To answer your questions: My favorite color is blue, I live with my husband and our greyhound, Carmen. Gardening helps me relax. My favorite subject in school was history. I have written some books that are historical in nature, including Cherokee Sister and Whistler’s Hollow. I have been lucky to have traveled many places with my family and with my writing. Here are some pictures from my travels. I would love to visit my grown kids more and gather them together at a beach house. Traveling is hard right now with the pandemic. I hope everyone will start wearing a mask to help slow the spread. I have lots of favorite books. My youngest son was adopted, so The Winter Princess is my current favorite. In that story, Pearl gets a new baby brother and I remember well the day my son came into our home. We were so lucky. Now, I hope you’ll answer your questions for me.
Hi Brent, your granddaughter sounds amazing! Have a blessed day, Debbie
