Ella, I think it would be fun for Aqua to be in both series and have a super-power like Kiki. I’d have to do some more research on mermaids. Seeing into the future and being able to lure sailors with their singing are the only two legends I can remember about their powers. Do you know of another one? The singing thing might be a bit creepy! Ha, ha. I’m glad you got the Bailey School Kids reference in Books vs Looks. Guess what? The Bailey School Kids are being made into a live action TV series. I am so curious to see how it turns out.
Abigail, I didn’t post your story because some younger kids might see it and be scared, but it was extremely suspenseful and gripping. I hope you’ll take a peek at my writing page (the left side might appeal to you more). You might also like to look at NaNoWriMo’s Young Writers program. Dear Ella, The virtual conference had lots of glitches and didn’t run very smoothly. It was their first year and doing it virtually was pretty hard. I’m glad we have kid’s talk! Dear Ella, I’m so glad you like the illustrations. The Mermaid Tales are illustrated by Tatevik Avakyan. I really like the way she draws! She lives in California and I’ve never met her. My publisher selected her and I’m glad they did. The first two Mini Mermaid Tales books are written, so I was thinking about Aqua as the main character in the third book, which would come out in fall of 2022. Isn’t it strange how long it takes for a book to come out? Best, Debbie
Dear Ella, The first Mini Mermaid Tales book won’t come out until 2022! The next Mermaid Tales book will come out next June. Is is called Sleepover at the Haunted Museum! Here is a sneak peek at what it is about. Mermaid Tales book #22 will come out in 2022. As with all book series, a book #23 will depend on sales. I’m hopeful I’ll get to write #23, but I am not sure. That is why I suggested Aqua might work well in the Mini Mermaid Tales series. There will be eight of them. Rocky is the cousin of one of the main characters. Wanda is the sister of another one. Dear Ella, I hope you have fun writing mermaid stories. I really enjoy writing them myself! Have you looked at my writing page? I have never officially said what country Kiki is from since she doesn’t live on land, but she is from the waters around China and North and South Korea. Best, Debbie
Dear Ella, I love the name Aqua Wave! It is a lot of fun. Do you have a favorite Mermaid Tales book about Kiki? Of course, I’d love to see some of your ideas. I answered the email, but it was returned so here is my answer: Thanks for the awesome picture. I am making a new Mini Mermaid Tales series. What would you think about me naming one of the characters Aqua Wave? Would you like me to use your picture in a MerStyle magazine? We could use it as a style tip-maybe bracelets are the thing to wear right now? If you like that idea, I’d need your parent or guardian’s permission to use your picture of Aqua in MerStyle Magazine #7-just an email saying I give my permission for Ella’s picture to be used in MerStyle Magazine #7.
