Dear Ella, You would send your artwork to a publisher, not to me or another author. You would send copies. Most artists seem to develop their own unique style. Cartoony sounds fun!
When Scholastic reissued some of the Bailey School kids books, they used a new illustrator for the covers. I’ve posted both covers of Santa Claus Doesn’t Mop Floors here. Do you see some differences? Dear Ella, It is interesting that they would change illustators in the middle of a series. What do you think about the Lulu books? I am not an illustrator, although I like to draw. To become a traditional book illustrator, an artist submits art work (color copies) to the art director of a publishing company. You should send your best work and the art that is the style you like to do. Stay safe, warm, and happy, Debbie

Dear Ella, I don’t know if Tatevik will do the illustrations for the new series, although I think that would be great. Sometimes publishers select another artist for a slightly different look. Scholastic did that for the Bailey School Kids Junior chapter book series to make it different than the Bailey School Kids books. I am sure it will be a while before I see any sketches. I will be excited to see them, Debbie
Dear Ella, That’s a cool idea. I will ask my webmaster if that’s something we could do. Did you know my favorite Kiki story is The Polar Bear Express? (Did you know I wrote 90 books with a friend-I think it’s cool that you are writing with a group. I wrote 2 with my oldest son.) Take care, Debbie

Dear Quincey, I’m glad you like The Royal Tea, where Queen Edwina comes to visit. Did you know Queen Edwina became queen when she was only thirteen? There’s more about the queen in The Crook and The Crown. In A Whale of a Tale, Kiki is afraid of humpback whales because she is tiny and they are huge!
