Dear Ivy, Running for a mermaid would be swimming REALLY fast! It might be fun to follow up Ready, Set, Goal! with a book about ‘track and field’ racing.
Suzy, thanks for asking. My husband and I are pretty healthy physically so that’s a good thing.
Have a wonderful, splashing good, week, Debbie
Dear Suzy, It was great to hear from you again. I hope all is well!
Eva, you are an amazing reader! You said you finished my second book, I wonder if it was the second book I wrote with my friend Marcia, Werewolves Don’t Go To Summer Camp, or the second book in another series. The second book in my Mermaid Tales series is The Battle of the Best Friends. I am curious! Have an awesome week, Debbie
Dear Eliza, Anemone shrimp are pretty cool, aren’t they? It was fun learning about krill and shrimp for Trouble at Trident Academy. For my newest book, Sleepover at the Haunted Museum, I got to learn about things that glow in the ocean. Have a great week, Debbie
Dear Aarna D., I’m so glad you liked The Lost Princess. Wouldn’t it be weird to find out you were a princess? I read a story that said every girl is a princess and I like that idea. How about you?
Melody, it’s cool to hear from a real-life Melody. I’m happy you enjoyed The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids books. Did you know they might be a live-action TV series? Have a great week, Debbie
Dear Ava, I’m so glad you like Battle of the Best Friends. It’s important to have people who like you for just being you. Thanks so much for writing. You rock! Best, Debbie
Hi Clara, I can’t wait for you to read my Titanic book. I hope you’ll like it!! Best, Debbie
Dear friends, You are my valentine! Best, Debbie
Dear Lucy G. and Aarna D., I’m so glad you like the Mermaid Tales books. Do you have a favorite? Have a great weekend and God bless, Debbie
Dear Lily, When I was a school librarian I noticed my students loved this one set of old books about how to make monster movies. They practically fought over them. My goal as a librarian and as a writer has always been to encourage kids to read. I knew monsters attracted the attention of kids who didn’t even like to read that much, so I hoped that kids would enjoy reading about friends who jumped to conclusions about their teacher (and thought she might be a vampire!). Some of the things are a little bit over the top, but that’s just to make it fun!
Thanks for your fun ending idea. Our editor actually asked us to change our original ending. Have a blessed day, Debbie
Dear Lily, Almost all of my series have had different illustrators. The original illustrator for the Bailey School Kids series is John Steven Gurney. A lot of people have asked us what happened in the hallway with Eddie and Mrs. Jeepers in the Vampires Don’t Wear Polka Dots chapter book. When we wrote it we thought Mrs. Jeepers turned into a vampire monster, what do you think? (Nathan Hale has done some newer covers.)
Yes, I like reading (a lot!) and soccer. I hope you’ll enjoy Zombies Don’t Play Soccer.
I made up the name Bridget Butt, but later a REAL Bridgett Butt wrote me a letter! If you read the book (The Worst Name in Third Grade), I hope you’ll like her. Have a great week and wear a mask in public, Debbie
