Dear Mila, I am so glad you love Santa Claus Doesn’t Mop Floors. Marcia Jones and I had so much fun writing it. Wouldn’t it be fun to have Santa working in your school? Have a great week, Debbie

Dear Harper, I’m so glad you enjoyed The Battle of the Best Friends. Sponges are pretty cool. Do you know that sting rays spend much of their time buried in the sand? I learned a lot about different types of rays when I wrote the book, The Winter Princess. Have a blessed week, Debbie

Dear Jayden, When we wrote the original story we actually did tell what happened at the end, but our editor asked us to change it. She thought it was too scary. In the original ending of Vampires Don’t Wear Polka Dots, Mrs. Jeepers actually did change into a vampire monster in the hallway. Do you think we should have kept the original ending? Best Debbie

Dear Misha, Please tell your librarian I said hi. I hope she has my newest books in your library. They are Mermaid Tales #22, A Titanic Friendship and the second Bailey School Kids graphic novel, Frankenstein Doesn’t Plant Petunias. To buy them you can go to a bookstore or order them online with an adults help. You should be able to click here to get the to Which Kind of MerPerson are you quiz. Guess what? When I was in third grade I talked to much too. In fact, I got in trouble for it! I hope you don’t.

Dear Tallulah, Right now I am working on a Mini Mermaid Tales series that comes out next year and a novel for older kids. If I get to write Mermaid Tales #23 what do you think it should be about? Do you have a favorite Mermaid Tales book? One of my favorites is definitely The Polar Bear Express. I hope you like it.
Mary, it is so cool that you were inspired by the Young Authors Festival. It was a nice day and I hope you’ll take a peek at my writing page. Good luck with your writing, Debbie

Dear Camila, I love that you like blue whales, bottlenose dolphins, and star fish! There are so many wonderful creatures in the ocean, aren’t there? I enjoy learning about them as I write the Mermaid Tales. In The Secret Sea Horse I made sea horses much bigger than in real life, but I do know they are tiny. Have a fabulous day, Debbie

Hi Max, I’m so glad you are enjoying the Mermaid Tales stories with your mom. Some people think sharks are bad, but we need sharks in the ocean don’t we?
Heela, you are amazing too! Donivan, the first Bailey School Kids book came out in 1990. It was Vampires Don’t Wear Polka Dots and the idea came from a bad day! Drew, I like Melody too. I like that she is brave and likes sports and is a really good friend. Hope you have a great day, Debbie
