“Dear Debbie Dadey: I really love Mermaid Tales. I can’t wait for book 13 to come out. My favorite mermaid is Shelly because she’s the first one in the pattern that gets to be on the cover of your books. I noticed the pattern so I know what is going to come next. Right now I’m reading book 11. Kiki is on the cover of book 11. So I know that book 12, Wish Upon A Starfish, will have Pearl on the cover and Shelly will be back on the cover of book 13. We read book five twice because I found it in the library before we read book one. I checked it out. Then we started reading all the books in order. Now I love reading Mermaid Tales a lot. We usually check out the books from the library, but we couldn’t find book 9 so I now own book 9! Also, I wrote my own story about mermaids. It’s about how starfish got into the water. I can’t wait to see the pictures in book 13 and in other books you might write. Are you thinking of writing a book 14? How many books will be in the whole series? Will Kiki and Pearl get another chance to be on the cover of your books? I think it would be fair if all the mermaids got the same number of turns to be on the cover picture of a book. Mermaid Tales is one of my favorite books in the world because I love mermaids almost more than anything else. I really love princess Ariel from Disney, but best of all, my favorite mermaids from all books are mermaids from Mermaid Tales. I hope maybe I could meet you some day. I love meeting new people. When I am older, I will read all the Mermaid Tales books to my kids. Maybe I will be a book author too and I will always remember that when I was seven years old I loved Mermaid Tales. Love, Layla ”
